3. CONFEDERACY OF SOUND

Confederacy of sounds
“A gathering of fragments standing”

Curated by Valerio Volpato

In Confederacy of Sounds, each track is an ambassador of a different sonic world, yet all unite in a collective act of listening. From the crystalline abstraction of Phantom Orchard’s Transparent Things, to the layered density of Material’s Memories (featuring Whitney Houston), the surreal miniatures of John Zorn’s Der Kleine Leutnant Des Lieben Gottes, the raw experimentalism of Emil Beaulieau’s Memories, and a harsh noise piece from the creator of the playlist himself, this is a congress of sound embracing four decades of sonic experimentation

2. TEXTURE OF WORDS

“Melodies that transform speech into a new language—unveiling rhythmic and expressive depth woven into the very fabric of words.”

Music landscape by Akii

Akïi is a producer and DJ born in Italy and based in Berlin. Their productions are characterized by fleeting melodies and glitchy vocals.

Recently, they released their debut album on Unguarded, La struttura disordinata del liquido, which adapts to the crystalline abyss, inhabited by silica drums and fragments of voice.

1.MORNING TALES

With this playlist, Bobby CHMB invites us to look forward by retracing archetypal paths.
From purely folk songs to more ethereal pieces, the common thread is the Tale, or the act of handing down stories in music: whether they are real or fictional, these have shaped generations around the world, with their load of memories blended with fantasy and magic.
The oral and musical tradition of the Celtic bards, as well as that of the Greeks, helped form a part of the collective unconscious that we still carry within us.
As the Virgin Prunes said:
“Oh, here we go / Round and round again / Oh, here we go / Down the memory lane…”
